Chaim Machlev is the owner and only artist at Dotstolines tattoo parlour in Berlin. The photos can tell you enough about his skills, but also the 1-2 years waiting time to get a tattoo from him should be a clue.
these benches give me boners. Product designer Hilla Shamia has developed a novel way to meld poured aluminum with irregularly shaped wood pieces to create sleek tables and benches. The process preserves that natural form of the tree trunk while still allowing the molten aluminum to flow into the crevices of the wood, slightly burning the area where the two materials meet. These remind me somewhat of Greg Klassen’s glass tables from last month here on Colossal. You can see more of Shamia’s work on her website. (via The Fox is Black)

with a skateboard, colored paint and a half-pipe installed within the gallery walls at mana contemporary in jersey city, brooklyn-based artist matt reilly has left his creative mark on a canvas. by adding various hues of liquid chroma to wheels with saturated sponges — and attaching them to the base of his board — he was able to colorize a plain white canvass tacked to the surface of a mini ramp. gliding back-and-forth over the sheet, reilly formed ‘wall ride’, one stroke and one layer at a time. diverse shades of blue, red and brown materialized on the canvas as reilly sped around the space, each different in their thickness and pattern. following the live performance, the canvas has been detached, and a new one fixed in its place rendering each finished piece a completely unique artwork, distinct in texture and composition.

Neil Dawson (born 1948) is a prominent New Zealand sculptor. His best known works are large-scale civic pieces crafted from aluminium and stainless steel, often made using a lattice of natural forms which between them form a geometric whole.
Dawson’s sculpture is individual, unique and easy to recognise. In fact his sculptures flout convention in their lightness of feel, their transparency and their escape from the conventions of earthbound pedestal-based display.

As part of the Memorie Urbane street art festival in Italy, Norweigan stencil artist Anders Gjennestad (aka Strøk) painted this shadowy mural on the side of an old school. This is just one of numerous pieces created for the festival including many Colossal favorites like Pixel Pancho, Seth, Pablo Herrero, Natalia Rak, Levalet,Ernest Zacherevic, Etam Cru, David de la Mano, and Alice Pasquini. In Giulio Musardo’s photographs, humans take second place to the raw powers of nature. Using surreal or exaggerated camera angles, and showing situations of how small we are when compared to the immensity of Mother Nature. For example: starfish swarm across a rocky beach while a lighting bolt strikes right at the heart of man.
