The more we talk about mental illness, the less stigmatized it becomes and the easier it is for people to get the help they need. In this campaign, I worked with the HBO team at Wieden + Kennedy NY to destigmatize mental illness by looking at themes portrayed in HBO shows. In partnership with mental health awareness organization, NAMI, we're able to offer help to those who need it and show that HBO is an ally to all those struggling from mental illness.
In Doctor Commentaries, we interviewed a cognitive behavioral psychologist, Dr. Ali Mattu, to break down themes of mental illness in HBO programming. These films are those interviews.
This sizzle film was developed by the internal HBO team but it’s a good explanation of the idea.
