“Perceptual Shift” is a 3D halftone sculpture using 1,252 wood balls, paint, and braided fibers to create, according to the view of the observer, an eye sculpture. Michael Murphy, an American sculptor, is know for his multidimensional work. For the past two years Murphy has been partnering with Michael Jordan and Nike creating centerpiece works of art for their retail environments incorporating Murphy’s stylistic approach into the Jordan Brand. One of the works is installed in the Trump Tower, while the other serves as a centerpiece in the store across from Madison Square Garden. Most recently, Murphy was commissioned to create a unique piece for this year’s annual TED Conference.
