15-year-old, Austrian-born photographer David Uzochukwu’s atmospheric portraits express powerful emotions through moody scenes and surreal imagery. His conceptual images evoke somber feelings, as quiet moments reveal flowing tears, eyes shut tightly against the world, faces darkened by shadows, and hunched shoulders that project loneliness and anxiety.
The Brussels, Belgium-based creative first discovered photography when he picked up his mother’s point-and-shoot camera at the age of 10. Since then, he has continued to hone his craft, producing beautiful images with a skill and maturity far beyond his years. Uzochukwu’s talent and active role in the Flickr community recently earned him the honor of being featured on 20under20, a new initiative that showcases 20 of the world’s most extraordinary young photographers on Flickr.
“I love to tell stories and to convey certain feelings and emotions in an image,” Uzochukwu says. “What really intrigues me is that photography—like all other art forms—can be so universal that you can be touched by a picture that someone else has created. Furthermore you can make the images in your head become reality. This amazes me again and again.”

italian artist maurizio galimberti’s polaroid work freezes time by deconstructing multiple photographed images into a single montaged composition. galimberti has been developing and maturing his mosaic technique, initially adapted to portraiture and finally to landscapes and towns. several of his compositions are formed from the images of renowned actors, directors and musicians like johnny depp, catherina zeta jones, javier bardem and lady gaga. his work with panoramas collages photos from rome, turin, naples, palermo and florence, segmenting the architecture, urban and rural visions into geometric configurations. the subjects become so abstracted by the layering and overlapping that they give the viewer an almost three-dimensional perspective, turning the motifs into a complex illusion of depth and volume.
well FUCK. these are gorgeous!!
Artist Jess Landau applies delicate, nude portraits on the inside of eggshells. Landau first photographs her models, develops the images by hand in a wet lab and prints them using traditional darkroom methods before she applies them on the shell with the help of liquid emulsion.
The artist states: “There is an overwhelming desire to be independent in our culture, while interpersonal connection and a sense of belonging is necessary for survival. This paradox is fascinating, and is the driving force behind this body of work.”
