Leyla Cardenas is a scavenger. She sweeps through nature, setting out into the world for whatever she may find to create work. She creates composition out of our decomposition. In Cardenas’ pieces entitled, “Withholding/Concencion” she creates a landscape and dimensionality out of collected layers of paint, thread, pins and Plexiglas. I really love the ethereality of her work. (I also love dumpster diving so this is right up my alley.) Hope it inspires you too!
